What a Twitter QR code stores

A Twitter QR code stores the link to an X profile, such as https://twitter.com/tecit: you enter the username, and the generator writes the twitter.com address in front. On 7 October 2026, that link forwarded permanently to x.com.

X's app has its own profile code for scanning inside X. Make yours here for a set print size, or as Data Matrix or Aztec.

Print size, and the risk of renaming

X frees an old username as soon as you change it, for someone else to claim. Printed codes would then open their profile, so reprint before renaming.

Up to 12 characters fit 25 × 25 modules; X allows 15, which need 29 × 29. At 0.508 mm per module, tecit takes 16.76 mm with QR Code's 4-module quiet zone.

Codes for many X accounts

Signed out, you download one code at a time as GIF, PNG or JPG; SVG needs a plan. After a free sign-in, a data sheet of X usernames becomes codes in one ZIP.

Do Twitter QR codes still work now that Twitter is X?

Profile codes do: in TEC-IT's October 2026 test, twitter.com forwarded them permanently to x.com. They work while that redirect and your username last.

Where is my QR code in the X app?

Tap your profile icon, then the QR code icon, or QR Code in the menu; the share icon saves it as a photo.

Can the code say x.com instead of twitter.com?

Not with these variants, which always write twitter.com. Use a URL QR code with https://x.com/ and your username instead.

Can a QR code prefill a post on X?

Not with the Tweet variants: signed out, their home?status= link opened X's front page in TEC-IT's test. The text also ends at the first #, which starts every sample. Encode the x.com/intent/tweet?text= link that X documents in a URL QR code instead.
