How to create a DPD barcode
-
01
Collect the five fields
Your depot's routing database supplies tag and service code. Pad the postcode with zeros: 71106 becomes
0071106. -
02
Match DPD's module width
Set Resolution (dpi) to 203, Module width to 3 Pixel (0.375 mm) and Quiet zone to 5 mm.
-
03
Finish the label
Download a PNG for an A6 label and add DPD's horizontal bar above it, ideally 0.5 mm thick.
What is the DPD barcode?
The DPD barcode is a 28-character Code 128: tag, destination postcode, 14-digit parcel number, service code and destination country. The plain text below repeats all but the tag as a backup and adds a check character.
Who prints the DPD barcode
Shippers printing their own A6 labels put it in the Code 128 field; a secondary Aztec code carries shipment data.
Stationary and mobile scanners read it in transit for DPD's parcel tracking.
Built for high-speed sorters
For its high-speed sorters, DPD asks for 0.375 mm modules, 25 mm bars, 5 mm clear sides and print grade B or better. Matrix printing must not be used.
Self-printed labels need DELICom DPD's approval at least 2 weeks before the first shipping day, unless your software takes part in DPD's simplified procedure.
Test codes online, volumes in TEC-IT software
GIF, PNG and JPG downloads cost nothing; a plan adds SVG and higher resolutions. Many parcels go into a data sheet after a free sign-in.
TEC-IT's Barcode Reference documents the DPD code for TBarCode SDK and TFORMer; TFORMer Server prints labels from your shipping data.
