Wireless Barcode Scanner is perfectly suited as cost-saving alternative for handheld barcode readers. This app turns your smartphone or tablet into a professional wireless barcode imager with outstanding data acquisition capabilities. With this app you are able to capture major barcodes, images, text fields and quantities. The scanned data can be stored locally or transmitted via Bluetooth, TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP or a WebSocket interface.

Easy Configuration

In contrast to most commercially available cordless barcode readers, the installation and use of this app is very simple. All adjustments can be done directly in the user interface, the use of cryptic configuration barcodes belongs to the past. App settings can be imported from XML files, bulk installations are significantly simplified.

HTML-5 Processing

Due to the new WebSocket support, HTML-5 applications and HTML-5 web-pages are now able to process scanned barcodes without additional software. In such a scenario, the web-page establishes a direct connection to the barcode scanner app: the captured data is available immediately for further processing. Keyboard Wedge Support

Wireless Barcode Scanner - Features

Easy Configuration and Deployment – Wireless Barcode-Scanner is very easy to setup, configure and use. Configuration is done by importing configuration files or directly in the user-interface of the app.

TCP/IP Server and Client – Wireless Barcode-Scanner can be configured to send barcodes via TCP/IP to your target system (via WiFi or mobile network). The app implements a TCP server and a TCP client.

Bluetooth SPP Interface – The app may be operated as Bluetooth Master supporting the serial port profile (Bluetooth SPP). Once paired with the computer, the barcode data can be read with standard software tools from a virtual serial port (RS232 or COM-port).

Arbitrary Target-Systems – Wireless Barcode-Scanner communicates via Bluetooth, TCP/IP or WebSocket with arbitrary target systems. If required, the optional keyboard wedge software TWedge is available from TEC-IT.

WebSocket Server – Wireless Barcode-Scanner may be operated as a WebSocket server. A suitable crafted HTML 5 page (see WebSocket Barcode Scanner Example HTML) is able to communicate with the app easily.

Bi-Directional – After transmitting data to the target application, the corresponding reply (if any) is shown on the smartphone. The target system is able to display short messages or status information.

Supported Barcodes – UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-8, EAN-13, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, 2 of 5 interleaved, Codabar, GS1 DataBar (RSS-14), RSS Expanded, QR Code®, Data Matrix.

Barcode Logging – Scanned bar-codes are stored offline for later (re-)sending. The size of the store (history) can be chosen by the user.

Enhanced Barcode Control – The app offers adjustable symbology support, prefix and suffix configuration and an adjustable character set for barcode decoding.

Batch and Single-Shot Operation – The app scans bar-codes one by one or in batch mode. The operation mode is adjustable in the settings.

Google Play Licensing – The app is available for Android 4.4 (or higher) on Google Play as free demo and as unlimited version.

Volume Licensing – For enterprise wide deployments the app can be licensed with license files or it can be activated using TEC-IT's online activation server. A Google account is not required for bulk-licensing.

Wireless Barcode Scanner - Availability

Free Demo Version

The Wireless Barcode Scanner app is available on Google Play as free demo or as full version. The free demo version replaces the scanned barcode data in irregular intervals with a demo-text.

Bulk Licensing

For integrators, bulk-license requirements or users without access to Google Play, TEC-IT offers a special version of Wireless Barcodescanner for download. This version can be activated with activation keys (internet access is required once) or by applying a license file (license files are based on IMEI, serial number or Android ID). Just contact us for more information.

Important note: Licenses which are distributed by TEC-IT (volume licensing, licensing without a Google account) are always bound to a specific device/user combination. Each new device and/or a new user requires a separate license. A factory reset may render a license permanently invalid.
